Fueling from the Inside Out: Why Gut & Liver Health Matter

As a 17-year-old student-athlete chasing the dream of playing tennis at the collegiate level, I’ve begun to realize that if you want to perform your best, what you put in your body matters most.

This summer, I’m doing something different. Since it’s the summer before my senior year, these next few months are when I need to be at the top of my game. Instead of just grinding on the court, I’m working on preparing my body to play at the next level.

Over the next six weeks, I’ll be interning with Evelyn Harper, founder of Forever Fit. Through her guidance—and the experiences we’ll share—I’ll be focusing on fueling, recovering, and supporting my body to improve performance on and off the courts.

smoothie to boost Energy & Mental Clarity

When you think of a good training session, what comes to mind?

Most people think of an intense workout...

  • But few people talk about taking care of our organs within that keep everything running.

Our gut and liver are two of the most overlooked organs in the body. Yet they’re powerhouses when it comes to energy, digestion, mental clarity, and recovery.

That’s why I’m kicking off this blog post series... Whether you're an athlete, student, parent, or someone just trying to feel better, this is a sneak peek into what it looks like to show up stronger from the inside out.

It all starts with how you begin your day.

One of the first things Evelyn has helped me understand is that breakfast isn’t just about eating something—it’s about fueling with intention.

If you start your morning off with processed carbs, sugar, or nothing at all, you’re setting your body up to crash later. But if you give your body the tools it needs to focus, move, and recover—you’re setting yourself up for success.
